PRIVACY
US Institute of Business and International Development created this Privacy Notice to demonstrate respect for your privacy preferences and to disclose our information collection and sharing practices.
This Privacy Notice explains how US Institute of Business and International Development (“USIBID”, “we” or “us”) collects and processes your Personal Data. The current version of the Privacy Notice will apply each time you use our Site. Accordingly, whenever you use our Site, you should check the date of this Privacy Notice (which appears at the top) and review any changes since the last version. This Privacy Notice is applicable to all Site visitors, registered users, and all other users of our Site.
“Personal Data” is any information that enables us to identify you, directly or indirectly, by reference to any identifiers such as your name, identification number, location data, online identifier or one or more factors specific to your physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity.
By visiting www.usidhr.org (the “Site”), you acknowledge that you have read and understood the processes and policies referred to in this Privacy Notice and consent to our data collection, use, sharing and processing practices as set forth in this Privacy Notice. For the purposes of the GDPR a representative can be contacted at [email protected]
Depending on the type of communication or transaction, we may collect and process personal data such as your name, gender, date of birth, postal address, telephone numbers, organization name, email address, and credit card, bank, or other billing information. With regard to each of your visits to the Site, we will automatically collect certain information, including technical information, information about your visit, and location information. We also collect personal data from others—this is the information we receive about you if you use any of our other websites (operated by us or another member of our group) or any services provided by us or another member of our group.
In addition, we collect non-personal data that is sent to us automatically by your web browser, and we may use this information to generate aggregate statistics about visitors to our Site. This may include, without limitation, IP addresses, browser type and plug-in details, device type (for example, desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone), operating system, and local time zone. We may use this non-personal data for various business purposes, such as providing customer service, preventing fraud, conducting market research, and improving our Site. If you wish to learn what information your browser sends or how to change your settings, please refer to your web browser controls.
We may also collect and process information about your interactions with us, including details about our contacts with you through email, SMS, U.S. mail, by phone, or in person (such as the date, time, and method of contact), details about donations you make to us, events or activities that you register for or attend, and any other support you provide. We may also collect and record any other relevant information you share with us about yourself, including your interests or your affiliations with other charities, community groups, your employer, or a US Institute of Business and International Development (USIBID) corporate partner.
We will process your Personal Data, including sharing it with third parties, only when one or more of the following conditions apply: you have provided consent, which you may withdraw at any time; the processing is necessary to perform a contract to which you are a party; we are required to do so by law; the processing is needed to protect your vital interests or those of another individual; or the processing is necessary for our legitimate commercial interests, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
We use Personal Data that you voluntarily provide in several ways. This includes fulfilling obligations arising from your membership, sponsorship, or any other contract you enter into with us, and providing the information, products, and services you request. We may use your information to communicate with you about our work and activities, to conduct fundraising in accordance with our internal policies, and to organize events you register for, including sending materials related to event content, speakers, sponsors, or other participants. We use your information to process donations, purchases, training enrollments, certification programs, or merchandise orders; to send newsletters and publications when you have consented; to respond to your inquiries; and to offer details about events, products, or services similar to those you have previously purchased or attended unless you have opted out. When you have given consent, we may also provide you, or allow selected third parties to provide you, with information about additional events, products, or services that may interest you. Your data may also be used to tailor online advertising to match your interests and profile, to review applications for employment, and to facilitate the transfer of information in the event of a merger or sale of the business. We may use your information to ensure that content on our Site is displayed effectively on your device and to comply with legal requirements to disclose or use your data.
Personal Data collected automatically when you visit the Site is used for administrative and operational purposes, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, and statistical or survey work. If you make a donation, the data collected will be used to create a secure account where you can access your donation history. We also use this information to improve the presentation of our Site, to maintain its security, to measure the effectiveness of our advertising, and to deliver advertising tailored to you. Additionally, this information helps us make suggestions or recommendations to you and other Site users regarding goods or services that may be of interest.
When we receive Personal Data about you from other sources, we combine it with the information you provide and with data collected automatically.
This combined information will be used for the purposes described above.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18, nor do we knowingly allow such individuals to submit information without verifiable parental or guardian consent. If you are under 18, you should not provide personal information to us unless you have permission from a parent or guardian. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from someone under 18 without the required consent, we will delete it promptly. In compliance with certain state laws, individuals under 18 may request the removal of content or information they have posted on the Site.
If you believe that we may have collected information from or about someone under the age of 18, or if you wish to request the removal of posted content or information, please contact us at [email protected].

These transfers are conducted using legally approved mechanisms under the EU GDPR (2025), such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs), or other lawful transfer frameworks available at the time.
How USIBID Shares Your Personal Information
USIBID may share your Personal Data with affiliated entities within our organization, trusted partners, suppliers, and subcontractors when necessary to provide services, fulfill orders, process payments, host events, or support our operations. Third-party payment processors handle credit card and banking transactions when you donate, register for a program, make a purchase, or apply for employment.
We may also share information with analytics providers and search engine partners that help us maintain and improve our Site. In addition, we may share data with other nonprofits, with trusted vendors assisting with marketing or outreach, or as part of a business transaction such as a merger or asset transfer.
If we believe that our systems, services, property, users, or staff are at risk of harm or unlawful activity, or if required by legal or regulatory authorities, USIBID may disclose Personal Data without prior notice.

You may update your privacy preferences or request changes to how USIBID communicates with you at any time by emailing [email protected]
How Long We Store Your Information
USIBID retains Personal Data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Once retention is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymize your data. Upon request, and where technically feasible, we will delete your information promptly in accordance with GDPR erasure standards.
